Civitella XXV #6: Paper & Poetry at Dieu Donne, 63 Flushing Avenue, Building 3, Suite 602, Brooklyn, NY

  • Dieu Donne 63 Flushing Avenue, Building 3, Suite 602 Brooklyn, NY USA (map)

We invite you to Dieu Donné, a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to the art of hand papermaking. Here, the verbal and visual combine as we honor former Poet Laureate and papermaker, Mark Strand (a Director’s Guest and loyal friend to Civitella Ranieri). Dieu Donné founder, Susan Gosin (Director’s Guest 2012), will present a new artist book of Strand's poems and drawings.

Alongside readings by several of Strand’s poet friends, including Timothy Donnelly, Vijay Seshadri, and Thomas Sleigh (CRF 2014), a number of visual artists who have been involved with both Civitella and Dieu Donné will speak about their experiences, such as Jon Kessler (CRF 2015), Saya Woolfalk (CRF 2018), and Daniel Zeller (CRF 2007). A pop-up show will feature their work. The program will be followed by light refreshments, tours of the space, demos, and a chance to try your hand at papermaking.
