“The conference “West, East, Orient, and Refugees” will address the refugee crisis from various angles. First, it will ask the question: how can the Catholic, Byzantine, and Oriental churches address this crisis together? Second, how can the universities that embody and profess religious values make higher education more accessible for refugees? Although the discussion will refer to all groups of refugees, it will pay particular attention to the refugees from the Middle East, where tensions between Muslims and Christians have historically been strong. However, in their new countries, both groups must work to be more embracing to those whom they previously regarded enemy. Hence, is the third question to discuss at the conference: how the churches and educational institutions can facilitate the Christian-Muslim dialogue?”
