The Zuckerman Museum of Art Presents Poetry Month Programming
In celebration of April as National Poetry Month, the Zuckerman Museum of Art is thrilled to debut a new program series highlighting the literary art form's cultural significance. On Tuesday, April 6, writer and journalist Tom Sleigh will discuss his work and how his poetry is utilized visually in the artwork of Lesley Dill. Dill's work is featured in the exhibition, Some Early Visionaries, on view in the satellite Fine Arts Gallery from March 16 through April 10, 2021. Dill will join Sleigh at the beginning of the virtual lecture to read his poem Portrait of Myself as Jonathan Edwards, featured on one of Dill's prominent sculptures. The sculptural work provides further comments on Dill's belief that we are all clothed in our own language everyday. Additionally, two phrases from this poem have been the title of her large Wilderness exhibition, which will premiere at the Figge Museum in May of this year.
